The simple answer is YES!
It depends what part of the world you come from. In Britain, Canada and most of the British Empire – like Australia and New Zealand, South Africa etc – they use the abbreviation ct for carat – as in 9 carat gold, or 9ct.

June 27th, 2007What Different Hallmarks Mean Question: I just purchased two rings from eBay.
American Silversmiths and Their Marks: The Definitive (1948) Edition (1948 Edition)
Price: $9.44
They were both marked 14kt in the inside of the shank.
All of my other rings are marked 14k.
The seller states that they are genuine gold. There are no other markings in the shank showing a manufacturer.
Do other countries use this type of stamp?
Do I need to find someone to test them?

Has a small animal (rat or mole), then the number 18 and then the letter W (in upper case).
