Professional Jeweler - Don’t Think So…

June 25, 2007 By: admin Category: Pendant Appraisals No Comments →

Professional Jeweler - Don’t Think So… I received an ‘Ask The Expert’ question over the weekend but didn’t get around to answering it until this morning.

It highlights two major points - The first was Barbara’s Question which was straight forward enough. You can see that, together with my response below - but the WORST part was the ‘So Called Service’ her jeweler provided.

Who knows what he charged her for this rubbish…

So here is a photo as supplied to the client. I have followed it with an example image of our ONLINE appraisal Certificate.

Which one would you rather have..?

Bad Jewelry Certificate

You can click on images to see larger images. If you need more detail check out the Cert Demo available from the sidebar.

Here’s Barbara’s Question: Hi there, I bought some antique jewelry and I guess it was pre 1906 because there is no mark on the pieces.

Anyway there are 3 pieces: a pendant and earring set.

The stones are ruby and white sapphire.

Now the gold content was tested..Is this reliable?

The jeweler said that it was no guarantees because it was not marked on the set???

Here is a picture of the set and the note written by the Jeweler saying it was 18K. Your opinion please??

Thank you

Quick and Easy Jewelry Appraisals

June 01, 2007 By: admin Category: Brooch Appraisals No Comments →

Quick and Easy Jewelry Appraisals: Yes I know I have been a bit lazy - actually I have been very busy - but that’s another story!

Perhaps GUILTY is more the word I should have used 8)

Gems & Jewelry Appraising: Techniques of Professional Practice

Price: $39.95

You see I wanted to make sure I could Post new information to you guys each and every day. Then that got sidetracked to ‘each and every week’. Well it seems a month has gone by and I have failed you.

Bummer!

But apart from my Day Job (running this website) I also have over 40 other websites I administer and look after. Everything from uploading images to answering questions. But I am also listed on ASK.com (ask the expert) as one of their faculty and have to answer all their queries too.

Phew! No wonder I’m Bushed (No insult to the president intended).

But I promise to lift the game - That is after I finish the current course I am taking (too much) - did you hear my wife speak just then? - spooky isn’t it? :-)

So I hereby promise to make sure this is the number one website in Jewelry Appraisals Online (which it already is BTW) and to create better and better software systems for you all to enjoy when getting your jewelry appraised.

So let’s start with one GREAT tip…
