Chlorine Damage on Gold Jewelry

January 18, 2007 By: admin Category: Ring Appraisals No Comments →

White gold and chlorine Question: Hi, I wore my engagement ring, which is yellow gold with a diamond set in white gold.

Before You Buy an Engagement Ring: With a 4-Step Guide for Making the Right Choice (Schiffer Book)

Price: $8.01

When I went swimming, some, but not all, of the "white gold" section has gone almost black/ dark silver.

Can white gold have this reaction or has the jeweller just encased the diamond in silver?

Your response would be most appreciated....

Jewelry Security

Security Advice For Your Jewelry...

For you to enjoy your treasures, they need to be somewhere close and accessible, but NOT in the Bedside Jewelry Box.

Bead Jewelry for Family & Friends

Price: $8.00

if it looks like gold, it must be gold... Right?

This myth can work in OUR Favor, so we should think about the following advice and ACT on it...

As mentioned - your treasures need to be somewhere close and accessible, but NOT in the Bedside Jewelry Box.

Although we DO advise a Jewelry Box on the Dresser and easily seen, BUT CONTAINING SEVERAL PIECES OF JUNK JEWELRY.

It is a well documented fact that Burglars nearly ALWAYS check the Bedroom First knowing that people hide things there.

In general terms we have discovered, through HUGE amounts of research, that your average Crim or Thug, doesn't know the difference between Gold or Gold Plated items. Diamonds look like Shiny pebbles of Glass.

In the dimly lit beam of a torch, a handful of Jewelry, stuffed into a pocket, stops them searching any further, and they leave without any more damage.

So if it looks like gold, it must be gold... Right?

See how this works in OUR Favor?

How to Sell your Jewelry...

At the Jewelry Appraisals Online Center two of the most frequently asked questions we get is:

  • "How do I sell an item of Antique or Estate Jewelry?"
  • "How much should I ask for it?"

Very often people receive an item as a 'Hand Down' or 'Bequest' after someone has passed away. It may, or may not be worth something, or the person 'Just doesn't like it'....

Family Ring Stamped JF

December 29, 2006 By: admin Category: Ring Appraisals No Comments →

Family Ring Stamped JF...

Question: Hello, I have just been given a ring passed down from Grandmother, to mother, to me.

Diamond Handbook: How To Look At Diamonds & Avoid Ripoffs (Newman Gem & Jewelry Series)

Price: $12.89

I know very little about jewelery but will try to describe it: large stone in center as if diamond, two small stones/chips? on either side also as if diamond, a third spot on either side of the smaller ones without any stones, just metal with a kind of flower indentation.

Inside the band (which is silver in color), are two markings: first appears to be a faded 12K (no promises on that one) and the second is JF (back to back, sharing the same 'stem' for the length of the letters).

Any idea as to its origin? Maker? Value? Can it be resized or cleaned up without causing damage?
