Legal and Ethical Issues

Legal and Ethical Issues…

When ‘Valuing’ your own Jewelry it is easy to forget any problems which may occur, but you should be aware (especially if you are using our ‘Online Self Assessment’ Jewelry Valuation Appraisal Kit), that you still have some ‘Moral’ obligations, if only to yourself…
Your Obligations or ‘Duty of Disclosure’….

If you ‘Knowingly’ fill in misleading or false information into the ‘Kit’ and then try to pass on that Valuation Certificate as a True Identification, then you are not only guilty of Fraud, but morally you are also guilty of misleading any other parties associated in the financial transactions arising from the sale of your item or a claim for insurance in the event of loss.

You would be defrauding the Insurance company, for example. A serious offense.

If you made such a claim for replacement, if lost or stolen, and sub-sequentially it is proven you made an incorrect statement in the Valuation Certificate, then you are guilty of Fraud.

The moral of the story is to be ‘Careful’ as ultimately, you will only be fooling yourself.
Proof of Authenticity….

If you use the Valuation Certificate as proof of authenticity of an item during resale to a Third party, and that certificate is later found to be ‘Inaccurate’ YOU will be held accountable…

As the person responsible, you must present accurate figures, weights, measurements and facts as applicable, to the best of your knowledge and ability. This is a Legal and Ethical issue.

After all; no-one else can see, feel, measure or touch the item in question.

Similar to filling in your TAX form or providing information to your accountant.

We will do the calculations but BASED ON YOUR INPUT.

If you are unsure as to the identity of a gemstone, for example, get a second opinion. If there is ANY doubt to the article, get a Professional Appraisal done by an independent party.
Our Obligations….

  • We endeavor to provide you with the highest standards of honesty and integrity built into all our software systems.
  • We try to simplify technical terms and avoid misleading jargon.
  • We strive for the most objective information without bias or favor, while remaining as accurate in our descriptions and terminology as practical, clearly fulfilling the purpose of our Valuation Appraisal Kit.
  • We will attempt to correctly identify, grade and categorize Jewelry and gemstones within the confines of our Systems, but with the information supplied by you.
  • We will use the best methods, as used by International Valuation bodies, to assess and clarify Jewelry to reach a positive outcome for you, our client.
  • We will continue to improve and update our software systems in order to create the very best and accurate ‘Self Help’ Jewelry Valuation Appraisal Kit in the World.

In short… We will provide you with the best we can possibly do, while you provide us with the best, you can possibly do.

That way any Legal and Ethical problems will not come knocking on your door…

That’s fair, and honest.
