How Pure Is Platinum?

February 4th, 2010

Platinum ring Question: I have a platinum ring and on the inside it says PLAT with a star after it.

I was trying to figure out how pure the platinum is that was used in it because I am thinking about selling it and although at one time I had a certificate for it from the original jeweler I have moved and cannot seem to find it.

Gem & Jewelry Pocket Guide: A Traveler’s Guide to Buying Diamonds, Colored Gems, Pearls, Gold and Platinum Jewelry (Gem & Jewelry Pocket Guide)

Price: $6.75

I think the purest would say 950 in the marking but I can’t seem to find out what mine is I don’t have alot of time to go have it appraised on my days off I am usually pretty busy so I was just wondering if anyone here might be able to help me.

I bought in in Philadelphia and I live in California now and I had a certificate the jeweler gave me with it but it is lost in the move somehow.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you and have a great day!… Continue reading How Pure Is Platinum?...
