Is This Cameo Real?

June 29, 2007 By: admin Category: Brooch Appraisals 2 Comments →

While there was NOT a lot of information from a client called David in this 'Ask The Appraiser' Question, I considered it worthy of posting here on the Jewelry Appraisal Center blog.

Cameos: Classical to Costume (Schiffer Book for Collectors)
Cameos: Classical to Costume (Schiffer Book for Collectors)

Price: $43.16

It has many elements which should be the starting point for anyone seeking answers.

Is This Cameo Real Question: I am trying to identify a Cameo that was passed down to my wife as to if it is real or not.

I don't really care how much it is worth - just interested

Do Jewelry Values Increase Over Time?

June 12, 2007 By: admin Category: General Jewelry Appraisals No Comments →

Do Jewelry Values Increase Over Time Question: Hi, I have a marquis cut diamond ring set in white gold with a carat weight of 1.20.

It is described as "fine" in clarity and cut. (it also has baquettes on either side)

Diamond Ring Buying Guide: How to Evaluate, Identify and Select Diamonds & Diamond Jewelry (6th Edition)
Diamond Ring Buying Guide: How to Evaluate, Identify and Select Diamonds & Diamond Jewelry (6th Edition)

Price: $8.72

I have an appraisal dated from around 1963 that valued it at 1,000.

Do you think that the price would go up since then? Or do you think it wouldn't have changed much.

Thanks! Amber

P.S. I also have many many other pieces (some gold and opal pieces, old pins, neclaces, earrings etc) that I've inherited that I would really like to find the value of.

The only problem is that appraisers I've spoken to charge by the piece.

Do you think I could find someone who would give me a reasonable price to appraise the whole lot?

Thanks again...
