Introduction to our NEW Staff Assist Program:
In a Nutshell - eMail us your Old Documentation or Out of Date Appraisal - and We Will Upgrade it For You
At the Online Jewelry Appraisal Center we have been involved in Self Assessment Software for over five years now, and it has been very successful.
But like my Ol' Grandma used to say (and often).
There Ain't No such Thing as a Perfect_______
You can fill in the blank bit to suit. I might suggest some of these...
- There ain't no such thing as a perfect Car
- There ain't no such thing as a perfect House
- There ain't no such thing as a perfect Business
- There ain't no such thing as a perfect Partner (except my wife of course)
And so on...
The "There ain't no such thing as a perfect Online Jewelry Appraisal System" also applies to this group, and that's due to the very large diversity of jewelry and gemstones which in combination creates thousand upon thousands of variations. The software simply cannot cover them all or treat Pearls in the same way as we calculate diamonds.
But there was one other area when we listened to the feedback from our clients which gave us a new idea
By the very nature of Do-it-Yourself' software systems - there was always going to be a few clients who were maybe, just not so confident enough going through (what we still consider to be) an easy Multiple-Choice Form, despite the fact they had the original store receipt or purchase order - description from an eBay Seller or even an old Appraisal Document.
Or indeed - had a complex item of jewelry and felt a little out of their depth when it came to entering the data for a Sapphire and Diamond Bracelet with three different sizes of diamond.
So they did what most people would do - absolutely nothing!
Finally it was decided that a well trained and qualified Staff Member COULD help these clients - but how could we place a value on such a service? Traditionally a jewelry valuation or Lab report on a single item would cost upwards of $75 based on an appraisers fee of $200 per hour (similar to any accountant or Lawyer for example).
After all - Gemologists and Appraisers are highly trained professionals and get paid the big bucks to compile their reports - as many of you have remarked in the past - that's why the Online System here has been so popular with the schedule of product fees starting at a single flat fee of just $23.97 and going DOWN for bulk. Hooray!
So we finally worked with a special select group of talented people to handle client appraisals for them. Our staff have been thoroughly trained in all aspects of the software and (in some cases) have been involved in the actual programming of the software right from the beginning. To say they know it backwards and inside out - is an understatement.
- So let me introduce these three new (not to us) Staff members for you and give you a brief bio...
Jack Cooper: One of the original software developers for the program who has been working in Php and MySql Databases for around 10 years now. His skills in this program are unsurpassed. He simply knows what has to be done on each page right through to the summary and printing of the Jewelry Appraisal Certificate.
If you have a particular item of jewelry - he knows how to get it into the database and get it done - Period.
Julie Leonard: Has been involved in our support system for a little over three years. In that time we have found her knowledge to be not only extensive, but more importantly - her patience in assisting clients knows no bounds. In actual fact - it was Julie who named this program 'Staff Assist' as it correctly describes exactly what the program is all about.
Assisting you when you either do not have the time to do it yourself or cannot understand some of the more detailed features to complete a finished Certificate - yet you still have past documention.
- The third member of our team - affectionately known around here as our 'Triple J' squad is...
Jon Sidden: and is the youngest (baby really) of our team having blitzed the opposition when it came to using the software as our newest support staff member. His record in Multi-Media delivered a no-nonsense, super-fast output, beating a reasonable benchmark figure for an Emerald and Diamond Ring Appraisal using our software in under three minutes - Phew!
And he was accurate as well - How's That?
I think he considers it a game - WOW (sly pun).
These three members will be the 'Go-To' people in the new Staff Assist Program.
The price is a very reasonable $35.00 per kit as an add-on fee but is discounted in our Deluxe Package for first purchases. Once inside the Valuation Manager you can purchase as many (or none) as you need. These will be available from both Inside the Valuation Manager for existing clients - or from the Sales Process and is completely optional.
- The ONLY problem we have is one of time.
Typically for new clients it takes 20 - 30 minutes for a fairly simple item of jewelry. Once they (you) become more familiar with the software, you can usually get it down to 15 minutes easy. Still - that's time you have to spare.
But if the item is complicated - it can take longer, especially if you have to log out to go check something and then get back into the Valuation Manager again and re-check everything before continuing.
- The time saved could be the difference between Today - or Tomorrow.
This is your time and maybe you just can't spare a lot of it to get an appraisal done (which is a shame if it gets stolen or lost BEFORE you finish) because that can cost you a whole lot more than just $35.00.
So that is our Staff Assist Program and the people who will make it all happen. Use them because they are going to get a whole lot busier. You don't have to utilize their skills and time, of course - but I don't know what you earn an hour - but they can save you a considerable amount out of your day.
Kind regards, David Foard F.G.A.A. resident gemologist and appraiser.
