Special Conditions In Appraisals
Special Conditions in Appraisals...
There are several 'Special Conditions' allied to Appraisals and Jewelry Valuations. These are shown below as they must be carefully considered BEFORE you start...
Valuations - Special Circumstances....
- Antique items.
When it comes to providing a Valuation Appraisal for an Antique item we have taken the step of calculating the value based on a full replacement (or exact duplicate) with sufficient time for manufacture.
It is noted then, that the item, having been replaced, is a 'Reproduction' with no 'Age' value attached to the item. It just looks identical.
Having been in the Antique Jewelry Profession for over 35 years, we have also built a premium into the Valuation Appraisal Kit which allows the replacement with a similar article.
It is left to the client and their insurance company to arrive at the best solution.
- Asian Gold Articles.
Many items have been purchased overseas with a view to providing a sort of 'International Portable Currency' which can be transported across borders and traded in other countries.
These items generally contain no gemstones and are made from the most 'pure' gold possible. We are NOT talking about 'Bullion' here. It is still Jewelry.
These items are valued at current Gold prices plus tax and premium.
- Gold Coins.
Our systems does NOT contain any facilities for valuing gold coins or tokens.
Should you require a valuation on any coins, we suggest you visit a specialist and get their opinion.
While we are always updating and improving our Valuation Appraisal Kit, we do not consider a change to this in the future, although we always welcome suggestions for new styles or types of Jewelry for Appraisal.
These are the basic Special Conditions we must consider before we start.
