What You Need To Know About Wedding and Promise Rings:

Promise rings are often seen as a separate gift from the wedding ring, although they certainly can be an important part of the romance of the occasion.

Wedding Bands and Promise RingsLike wedding rings, promise rings are designs to show your love and your desire to be in a committed relationship with the other person.

Wedding rings and promise rings can come in a variety of styles, types and designs.

All types of precious metals such as yellow gold, white gold, silver, titanium and even platinum and palladium can be used in designing promise rings and wedding sets.

The earliest use of the promise ring can be traced back the first part of the early sixteenth century.

Men that couldn't afford wedding rings or didn't have enough in a dowry to satisfy the bride's family could present her with a promise ring to show his intentions until the appropriate level of funds were available.

In some cultures and areas, promise rings, like wedding rings or engagement rings, can be given by either the woman or the man.

It is not uncommon in many areas for a woman and man to have matching promise rings.

Promise rings are worn on the same hand as wedding rings and also on the exact same finger. For some couples the option for a smaller promise, engagement and wedding rings can make a beautiful collection of stackable rings.

These could then be worn as a complete set or in any combination.

Since the rings can be mixed and matched between the wedding rings, engagement ring and the promise ring, there are lots of possible options.

Adding an anniversary or eternity ring later on can add even more combinations.

The promise and wedding rings don't have to be a perfect match. They can simply use the same types of designs or patterns which will allow them to compliment each other.

Romantic shapes such as hearts are very popular with these pre-engagement rings.

For every elaborate promise rings, diamonds that match the wedding rings may be a good option. Of course this isn't necessary, but three stone rings as well as simple bands do work very well with most wedding rings and sets.

I get similar questions on forums and ‘expert’ websites, together with my own members discussion group. They are usually in the following format, and in general the same questions get asked over and over again. They go… Continue reading Jewelry Hallmarks And What They Mean...

The Asscher cut diamond is unique that owes its name to Joseph Asscher the person that invented this particular stone way back in the year 1902. This diamond cut has as many as seventy-two facets and the diamond is shaped as a square though thanks to its parallel step facets as well as depth of corners it can be likened to an octagon as well. Most people when they imagine a pearl are picturing perfect large round spherical gems, creamy white in colour with a shimmery iridescent surface. The reality is that pearls are usually irregular in shape, each one is different and to find one that is completely round is almost unheard of, not to mention trying to make a whole necklace of pearls that are all more or less the same. Natural pearls are the rarest and most highly valued variety, but nowadays most pearl jewellery is made from cultured or farmed pearls, which are grown on pearl farms… Continue reading What are the Main Differences Between Freshwater and Saltwater Pearls?...
