Wedding Rings For Men

September 4th, 2009

There are several options for wedding rings and wedding ring sets. Both the bride and groom can have matching wedding rings, or you can opt for a very stylish and classical band for the man that will match with any type of bridal set

One of the options for men's wedding bands that are decisively masculine but also a great match for the woman's wedding rings is to look for a simple and elegant design. A band that is plain works with any design of wedding rings, however adding scrolls, patterns or accents can also work very well.

Tungsten rings for men are very popular because the metal itself is virtually indestructible and simply will not scratch, tarnish or become damaged under almost any type of condition. These wedding rings are typically a silver color, however they are so reflective and flawless they almost appear to have a mirrored finish.

Not al tungsten wedding rings are silver however; there are ionization processes that allow tungsten to be permanently molecularly altered to become a dark, deep black color. This color of band is very popular for many couples and provides a striking looking wedding ring.

To add accent to men's wedding rings you may with to consider an inlay design. These are common in the tungsten rings and may include any combination of metals. The metal, tungsten carbide, often forms the band of the ring with yellow gold or even silver acting as the inlay metal. Since silver reflects differently a subtle pattern is produced.

Men's wedding rings can also feature several patterns and designs that can compliment the women's bridal set. Greek key patterns as well as many of the Celtic eternity designs are also very popular in all styles of men's wedding bands.

There are several different styles of finishes on wedding rings that can also be used to create a pattern. Polished rings are reflective, especially if made from tungsten, however even silver, platinum and gold are very bright and shiny. Brushed surfaces or brushed finishes are more of a matte surface, closer to a satin finish.

Combining several finishes on wedding rings makes a pattern that is enduring and designed to stand op to any type of wear. Tungsten rings are particularly known for their enduring qualities and will not wear away like the softer gold rings will over time and with constant rubbing and movement.

Taking the time to look through the selection of wedding rings for men that will match with the bridal set is important. Although you may be tempted to buy the first wedding rings you see, it is really a great idea  to look at all that is available before making a final decision.

Professional jewelry appraisals completed by gemologists and valuers often have to take into account the effect the jewelry hallmarks have on the value of each item being appraised. Do they alter the price, up or down, depending on the hallmark. The simple answer is yes – and no. It depends on the hallmarks themselves and where they come from.

I get similar questions on forums and ‘expert’ websites, together with my own members discussion group. They are usually in the following format, and in general the same questions get asked over and over again. They go… Continue reading Jewelry Hallmarks And What They Mean...

Most people when they imagine a pearl are picturing perfect large round spherical gems, creamy white in colour with a shimmery iridescent surface. The reality is that pearls are usually irregular in shape, each one is different and to find one that is completely round is almost unheard of, not to mention trying to make a whole necklace of pearls that are all more or less the same. Natural pearls are the rarest and most highly valued variety, but nowadays most pearl jewellery is made from cultured or farmed pearls, which are grown on pearl farms… Continue reading What are the Main Differences Between Freshwater and Saltwater Pearls?...
