Vintage Wedding Bridal Ring maybe 101 Years Old

June 1st, 2007

Old style Wedding Band Question: Several seasons ago I purchased an old antique traveling trunk at a yard sale.

500 Wedding Rings: Celebrating a Classic Symbol of Commitment (500 Series)

Price: $15.40

While cleaning it out at home, I came across what gave the idea to be a old style commonplace wedding band. I cleaned it up and revealed stamped inside "solid gold".

It is a small band, possibly a woman's size.

Could you give me an idea around how old it might be and whether it has any real consequence? Thanks.

Answer: G'day LaRonda and many thanks for your query

It's uncommon to find an item stamped Solid Gold as frequently they are stamped with the gold property, such as 14k or 18ct or similar.

I would advise you take it to your local FRIENDLY jeweler and have them take a quick look at it. If you want to have it appraised it will cost, but at least then you will have it in black and white evidence of what it is.

Alternatively; you might like to browse eBay or the Antique Jewelry Fair at http://www.antique-jewelry-fair.com for a similar item.

Hope this helps - Oh any but the way - Well done with the find and should you need a valuation, remember you can always use our Jewelry Appraisals Online software right here.

Jewelry hallmarks

Professional jewelry appraisals completed by gemologists and valuers often have to take into account the effect the jewelry hallmarks have on the value of each item being appraised.
