Longines Watch Appraisals?

February 4th, 2010

Longines Watch Appraisal Question: Hello this is Stacey. I am interested in appraising a watch I got from my great grandmother.

My fear is that I spend money to have it appraised and it's worth nothing.

I have looked for hours online and e-bay and such and I can't find a watch just like it anywhere.

Antique Gold WatchIs this a good thing.?

It is a Longines, 14k solid gold watch. It's believed to be from the late 50's early 60's. I have a number from the back plate and it still works.

I am interested in selling it but have no idea if it's worth anything.

I was told by one jeweler it was 2 to 4 thousand. That seems odd for something I have had tucked away for years.

Let me know if you think it would be worth appraising for selling or personal purposes.

Thank you for your time!

Answer: G'day Stacey and many thanks for your email

Unfortunately we do NOT appraise watches, so our software program will only value jewelry (see the 'Can Do - Can't Do' list available from the front page of the website).

However I do suggest you go to your local FRIENDLY jeweler and have a full and written appraisal done on the watch. They should be able to say if it is worth doing or not, BEFORE you hand over any money.

If they won't - FIND ANOTHER ONE!

Hope this helps, and please remember that your other jewelry can be valued using our Jewelry Appraisals Online Software...
