How To Value BEFORE You Buy Question: I am interested in buying a diamond ring and I need your advice.

I have seen two that I'm interested in, but need you to tell me what you think.

Please could you give me a rough guide on the value, and price I should pay, based on the details provided.

  • 0.50ct
  • Color G
  • SI Clarity
  • Platinum 2.8gr

and

  • 2ct
  • F-G Color
  • vs-si
  • Platinum Diamond ring

However as a general rule I would (if both items were equal in most respects) always get the best color (F-G as opposed to G-H) assuming the weights, cuts and clarity were the same.

But as I said - I can't see these items.
