Opal Jewels and their Value:

A beautiful and cherished addition to any collection of medallions is an opal gemstone.

Opals are superbly colorful, but if you do not know how to care for them you will not have a charming piece for long! There are many effects to bring to mind about opal medallions.

Understanding Opal Jewelry Appraisals.

Opal medallions are made with some of those superb, iridescent types of opal which so rarely keep their good looks unless knowledgeably treated. My Opal is filled with a twirl of turquoise color and a entrenched blue with flecks of marvelous lively green and gold in the interior.

It you have a really wonderful opal, you can stare into the stone for days. Believe me, when I first got my opal jewelry, I lost whole days staring into the pretty extent of that stone. Although the shape on opal medallions is perfect, it is the stone itself which makes it one of my chosen pieces of jewelry.

The gemstones in opal medallions are very colorful, with a special sort of color combination if they are black opals or white opals. Either way, opals have a amazing play of color that give the impression to be just below the surface of the stone. The color comes from moisture wedged inside the stone.

The remarkable thing about opal medallions is that I can't recall where or when I got it. I guess I had better be practically drawn to assume that I always had it, except for the memory of, when I was a youth, not getting any medallions that I was partial to, and heading out to the thrift store to get some. There is no way I would have felt deprived of medallions if I had already had Australian opal medallions at that point!

Opal medallions can have as few was one opal or as many as 97, depending on the flair and size. Each opal requires to be treated with care and respect because they are delicate gems. It is not a good idea to wear opal medallions twenty-four seven because the oils in your skin will damage the stones. Wearing opal medallions for special circumstances and the like is fine, as long as you do not disregard you are wearing it.

G’day Renee and many thanks for your comment

Please understand that I can’t see this opal, or test it etc, but it sounds like a possible imitation to me. There are many Glass copies (with gold flecks) which are called ‘Slocum Stone’ in the Trade.

I suggest you take it to your local FRIENDLY Jeweler or better yet a Gemologist, who should be able to confirm it one way or another.

At least then you would know for sure and can stop guessing :-)
