Rhodium Plating and pave Diamonds
Question: I have a white gold ring which is rhodium plated.

I hear sometimes the ring will tarnish and needs to be re-plated with the rhodium.
Will this be an issue with a ring with pave diamonds? Do all these diamonds have to be removed before it can be re-plated.
Is there a significant difference in price between a white gold-rhodium plated ring and a platinum ring.
Do platinum rings tarnish as well?

Gemstones (diamonds in particular) do not have to be removed for the ring to be re-plated and will not be damaged in the process.

Platinum is the dearer metal and at current prices - well over $1100 per ounce. Compare that to 14K or 18K white gold which has been Rhodium plated at approx $630 per ounce for pure 24 carat gold.
So the answer to that is 'Yes'... There is a significant difference in price.
Platinum like all metals tarnishes over time. The very shiney - almost Chrome finish is due to the Plating - not the polishing of the metals.
