ART Hallmark
ART Hallmark Question: I have a piece of jewelry with the word ART on the back with the copy right circle.

The Art of Silver Jewellery: From the Minorities of China, The Golden Triangle, Mongolia and Tibet
Price: $39.23
Any ideas about where I can find more info
Thanks for your time.
Answer: G'day Shelly and many thanks for your query and your patience, as after the recent storms here in Australia, we have only just got our telephone lines back on - and Internet access.
Somewhere on the Jewelry there may be other Hallmarks which would help to identify what the items are made from, where they may have been made, and how old they are. Until you get this information you will not be able to move forward. You might even try places like eBay for something similar...

The main problem is that there is NO central registry of Maker's Marks and each country has their own hallmarking rules. No-one need comply with any other country, and in fact (as the largest manufacturing base is China and South East Asia) jewelry manufacturers there wouldn't care about the stamp anyway.
I get more questions about Hallmarks than any other - so you are not alone. With the limited information available you could search for years and never come up with an answer.
You didn't mention where you live or how you came to own this item. It is also useful (if it had been passed down) to find out where the person purchased the item in the first place, as this will help to narrow down the search.
Start with these questions first and work out from there.
Your best chance would be to add this query to my Gold Jewelry Hallmarking Blog at: http://hallmarks.jewellery-antiques.com/ which I will do for you.
Who knows if someone else had a similar problem and may have discovered more.
Can't hurt anyway and who knows what answers we may get. You can always consider our Jewelry Appraisals Online software at a later date because it's always available 24/7. How cool is that?

Some men are not crazy about the idea of wearing jewelry. Myself included, ever since I arrived in Australia because their attitude is different to Britain.
