Best Choices of Pearl Earrings

September 13th, 2009

Pearls would easily be anyone's preference. Although they are not tagged as women's best friend as diamonds are, they are these treasured beads, among other gemstones. They are among the most common accessories you'll see being made into necklaces, bracelets, brooches, and much of those simple stud earrings, or those arrayed ones.

What are the things one consider when searching out the best selection of a set of these? First there's price, but ideally they can not be a sure tell, as some may sell a pair of pearl earrings much less than what it really is valued at, while the other faction sells it so much more unreasonably.   Although scratching off that natural perception of more expensive equals better quality, these pearls generally cost some dough, as these water treasures are not that easy to find and produce.

Normally one can easily associate pearls to those white beads inside a clam shell. Generally these bead-like gemstones are perceived to have that smooth and shiny finish.   As the coined term, pearly whites, pearls are regarded as precious and of high quality. In owning a pair of earrings with these pearls, one can select from a number of colors as, white, creamy beige, pinkish, yellowish, bluish, and brownish. Among these colors, there are black ones that are highly valued than the rest of them, considerably the best of the pearls. Like other things, rarity of these pearls created as earrings and jewelries are the considered matches to that price it is tagged on.

The colors of pearl earrings can only be as much, however, the varieties are countless. Like how unique each specie is, these pearls are generally known for how they are classified, accordingly, as Freshwater and Saltwater Pearls, Tahitian Pearls, and those Black and Cultured ones.

The Freshwater and Saltwater pearls are the most common supplies you'll find around mostly because they are not as expensive as the other kinds, but still showcasing that same quality. Then there's Tahitian, from the Malayan-Polynesian area, as the name suggests. With an abundant water resource, this area in the east offers a wide variety of pearls that are used to become pearl earrings, among other jewelries. Then there are the black cultured pearls, which are among the most in  demand, with its shine lasting longer than most types – aside from its rare color.

A fun trivia though for those who do not know it yet. These cultured pearls, as much as they are valued, are generally coming from something amazingly simple. They are by-products forming concentric layers of shelled mollusks, which are formed from deposits when the mollusks are irritated from a microscopic substance trapped inside its mantle folds. The only catch to this though is that they are very rare, especially those wild ones that form without the intervention of humans. Conclusively, that makes them what they are, highly treasured pearls. Accordingly, it boils down to that preference, as well as the price one is willing to pay, in the selection of those great treasures.
