Earring Collection Value
Pair of Earrings Question: hello - about a year ago a close relative passed away.
I was left many things in this collection. There are a pair of earring in a box with Hamilton & Inches Edinburgh London on it.
A World of Earrings: Africa, Asia, America (Ghysels Collection)
Price: $40.95 USD
This has a pair of gold stud earrings with dark purple gem stone and marking tefani on the earrings, also some other markings.
Please can you let me know what gem it may be, also if it is of any value and if it is one of these company collections, which year it was made?
I am sorry to say i don't no much about jewlery...
Answer: G'day and many thanks for your query
The problem with BOXES is that they may - or may not be - the original container for the jewelry.
So that part of the question has to be ignored.
A Dark purple gemstone could be Amethyst, Tanzanite, Corundum, Sapphire, or even glass. So without getting them tested by your local friendly gemologist/ jeweler, you are not going to know what they are - so you are NOT going to know what value they are - either.
Good quality jewelry made in parts of Britain or Europe have great hallmarks which can date the item right the way back to the 14th Century - YES! 700 years ago - Phew!

But as you do not have any of their marks and I don't know what country you are in - I might assume the USA.
This does not help to date or value jewelry at all.
So we are totally in the dark - especially as I can't see, feel, test or touch the items in question.
Your only course of action is two fold.
Check places like eBay or the Antique Jewelry Fair at http://www.antique-jewelry-fair.com/ and do some form of comparison shopping.
There are also live Appraisals for viewing here, but you will need a lot of time to search through the thousands of Valuations listed from the database.
Or - Get your local Friendly jeweler and arrange a full appraisal. They should be able to tell you if that is worth your while doing - BEFORE you put up any money.
It's your call.
You also might like to add this query to my blog at http://how2valuejewelry.com/ as other may have had a similar problem. Can't hurt anyway and who knows what answers you may get.
Hope this helps, but remember that our Jewelry Appraisals Online Service is far better than no service at all, and at such a low cost price, is more than great value for money - it's peace of mind too.

Titanium Bracelets:
Some men are not crazy about the idea of wearing jewelry. Myself included, ever since I arrived in Australia because their attitude is different to Britain.
